Previous studies revealed the characteristics of shitsukan perception from the behavioral and neural responses. In particular, the method of manipulating optical physical parameters using computer graphics has enabled us to verify psychophysical properties of the perception using humans and investigate the neural basis of the information processing of shitsukan using primate models in an integrative way. However, it has been difficult to understand the profound perceptual aspects of shitsukan in animal models.
