D02-1 The neural mechanisms by which breathing influences SHITSUKAN perception

We may unconsciously perceive deep SHITSUKAN by manipulating our breathing. Recently, psychological studies have suggested that sensory perception changes depending on the phase of respiration, but the underlying brain mechanism is still unclear. In this study, we will examine that the effect of respiratory patterns on visual information processing by combining the neurophysiological technologies and the monitoring of respiration in non-human primates. Furthermore, we will also use the genetic neural manipulation technologies to test the causal role of the signals in specific neuronal pathways in sensory perception. Our results will provide an understanding of the neuronal mechanism in the neural circuit level by which the sensory perception is manipulated by respiration, and reveal the relationship between respiration and deep SHITSUKAN perception.
